Not later, not some day but NOW!!!!
The Israelites once said that it was “not yet time to rebuild the house of the Lord” (Haggai 1:2), even though the Temple had long been lying in ruins. Sadly, this same attitude often appears in our own spiritual lives. We, too, find ways to postpone our dedication to God, saying, “Now is not the time for me to be fully committed. Let me first enjoy alcohol, clubbing, and sexual pleasure… and when I am older, then I will give myself to God.”
In Scripture, the Temple is not just a physical building—it is also a symbol of our soul, the inner dwelling place of God (1 Corinthians 3:16; 1 Corinthians 6:19). When we neglect this inner temple, it weakens and eventually falls into spiritual ruin.
And the consequences begin to show, just as God described through the prophet Haggai:
“You sow much but harvest little” (Haggai 1:6).
“You eat but never have enough” (Haggai 1:6).
“You drink but never have your fill” (Haggai 1:6).
“You clothe yourselves but never are warm” (Haggai 1:6).
“You earn wages only to put them in a bag with holes” (Haggai 1:6).
These frustrations are not merely physical—they are spiritual signals that something is broken within us.
Whenever such patterns appear in our lives, Scripture counsels us: “Consider your ways” (Haggai 1:5, 7).
This is a divine invitation to pause, reflect, and rebuild.
Not later.
Not someday.
Now is the time to rebuild the house of the Lord within us (Haggai 1:8).
