Your future in Christ is brighter than your past.
When we study the doings of God with men, we discover a certain pattern in which the later is made more glorious than the former.
Look at Job. We first meet him surrounded by glory, prosperity, and abundance (Job 1:1–5). Yet, in a sudden and devastating turn, all of it is taken away from him. Still, Job remained faithful. And Scripture tells us that “the LORD blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the former” (Job 42:12). His later years were marked by even greater prosperity, wholeness, and honor than what he had before.
In Haggai, God gives a similar promise about the Temple:
“The glory of this latter house shall be greater than the former” (Haggai 2:9).
God declares that the future can hold a deeper, richer, and more radiant glory than anything previously experienced.
Today, I simply want to encourage you: if you believe that your best years are behind you, remember that in Christ, the best is never behind—it is always ahead. As long as you hold fast to faith in Jesus, your latter days can be more glorious than your former ones.
Even if the trials of this life lead all the way to death, our hope in Christ remains unshaken. For those who persevere in faith, our eschatological reality—our eternal future with God—will far surpass any suffering of the present life.
As St. Paul says,
“The sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” (Romans 8:18)
And elsewhere, he declares that the glory awaiting believers is so profound that it will “make us forget our miseries” (echoing 2 Corinthians 4:17).
So take heart.
Your story is not over.
Your future in Christ is brighter than your past.
And the God who restored Job, who promised a more glorious temple, will also bring greater glory into your life
