Remembering Fr. Bernardo Santori — The Priest Who Prayed 50 Rosaries a Day
After facilitating a retreat at St. Joseph’s College Ombaci in Arua District, Uganda, we had the privilege of visiting the final resting place of the mystical Fr. Bernardo Santori.
Fr. Santori was an Italian priest who dedicated many years of his life to serving the Northwestern Uganda region, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire. Among the many stories recounted by the local community, one particularly remarkable incident stands out:
It is commonly related that while traveling by car, Fr. Santori ran out of fuel. Unable to continue his journey, he reportedly opened the fuel tank and placed his Rosary inside, after which the car miraculously ignited, allowing him to continue on his way.
Our guide also shared that this venerable priest prayed 50 Rosaries every single day. Beyond his devotion in prayer, Fr. Santori single-handedly built schools and health centers throughout the West Nile region. He is also believed to have experienced visitations from the Blessed Virgin Mary.
We join in prayer for the Canonization of Fr. Bernardo Santori, asking that his life of holiness and service may be recognized by the Church and continue to inspire generations to come.
